About APF FORESIGHT eVALUATION inITIATIVE
Launched in 2024, the overarching aim on the APF Foresight Evaluation Initiative is to work with APF members to use evaluation to improve quality of foresight practice and support achievement of foresight goals. Guided by the recommendations of the APF Foresight Evaluation Task Force (2021 – 2023), the Initiative supports increased member evaluation capacity through the launching of targeted resources and activities.
Initiative Steering Committee
The Steering Committee is an eight-member group of individuals who represent different perspectives in thinking about and doing foresight evaluation. Members vary in their foresight evaluation experience, but they have a shared commitment to advancing use of evaluation by foresight practitioners, improving the quality of foresight, as well as advancing the emerging field of foresight evaluation, such as identifying appropriate foresight outcomes and addressing challenges to evaluating foresight.
Dr Laurent Bontoux
Senior Foresight for Policy Expert at the EU Policy Lab of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre where he works to provide the best possible foresight evidence to EU policymaking.
Zan Chandler
Foresight practitioner and educator with Policy Horizons Canada and Adjunct Professor in OCAD University’s Strategic Foresight & Innovation Program.
Rose Thompson Coon
Senior Lead for impact & evaluation at Finnish Innovation Fund, Sitra.
Annette L Gardner, PhD, MPH
Initiative Lead. She is the Principal of ALGardner Consulting and Scholar of the DMS Academy.
Tanja Hichert
MBA and M.Phil (Futures Studies) from Stellenbosch University. She runs consulting firm Hichert & Associates, and is a co-Chair of the UNESCO Chair in Complex Systems and Transformative African Futures at Stellenbosch University.

APF FORESIGHT EVALUATION TASK FORCE REPORT (2022)
Drawing on the broad and deep expertise of 24 Task Force members—foresight practitioners, evaluators, and corporate and public sector representatives—the Report provides insights into evaluating the quality of foresight and its impacts, and recommendations for evaluation capacity-building resources.
